| What are your views and or experiences of either the halti or harness? I haven't used either but wondered what the advantages/disadvantages are. |

I have used both in times of need. The halti guides the head, like a Headcollar on a pony. Excellent if you have got large muscular dogs. When i broke my collar bone recently I could walk both of my large dogs ,my GSD and my Rottweiler on my right (I am left handed) hand, whilst being concussed!! No pressure on them at all. Then I taught Mia to walk off lead to heal, so it became easier still. Noushy will wear one no problem.
It is like a child walking a pony, they simply guide the head, no pressure at all. Very useful aids in times of difficulties. However i used to own a very large dog who wouldnt budge when wearing one depends ont he dog really, finding something that works for you and yours, when you need it.
Now my collar bone is healed I can walk both on collars and leads.
I tried a no pull harness once and my massive dog just lurched his shoulders into the harness and was a power house. Harnesses are used for sled dogs to pull, tracker dogs to track, however some people have found them really useful. I think it depends on the dog and you really, finding what works for you and yours. They are just an aid for walking and managing a situation, for instance my boken shoulder or Noushys prey drive. I manage her with it, and there is no suppression involved.
