Hello everyone, my name is Carol and although it's lovely to find this site it's also with great sadness that I find myself looking here.
I lost my gorgeous girl on Saturday, she was 12 years and 7 months and I had her for 12 years and four months, my first proper rescue although she was my 3rd shep, my darling Heidi I bought as a puppy and had her until she was 10 years old, Sabre I had for 9 years, he was thrown from a moving car when he was about 5 months old, he was never claimed so stayed here with me Heidi and my old collie cross Sam.

This has been a bad year for me, I lost my other little Sam a Lhasa Apso in Feb, he came for his holidays 12 years ago and never went home and a few months later Dana came to live with us.

Does it sound heartless that I am even considering another dog when Dana has just gone, but the flat is so lonely and quiet, I have so much love to give a little one that needs a loving home and even though I work I have so much time to spend with them

Hello Carol.

I am sorry to hear of your loss , but I feel the same as my Gemma went to sleep 2 weeks ago and I feel so lonely without her. I know that I gave her a good life and she would want me to be happy with a companion by my side. You are a good kind caring person, remember the good times you had with Dana and I'm sure you'll give lots of love to another doggy in your life.

Hi Carol,

I'm also a newbie here & also found my way here under sad circumstances having lost our beautiful girl Scarlet on the 12th of July. I'm in Glasgow too, in Lennoxtown. I too wondered if people would think it was too soon for us to adopt another baby but i feel that there can't ever be a bad time to give a baby in need a loving, secure home... it wont replace Scarlet or stop the sadness i have in my heart from losing her but our new baby will be very much loved & will bring us lots of smiles & happiness.

I'm sure i'll speak to you again here...

hi carol, glad youv'e joined us. if you have the love it can never
be too soon for some poor animal to be given it. some people
can't get another one for a long time and others need to have
another quickly. you can never replace a loved one but you can
pass your love to another one. good luck
