PostSubject: A quick update...   Mon Jun 21, 2010 11:37 pm

Just to let you all know that Zeus has settled in fantastically. We've been for several walks off lead now and he is just brilliant. He's got quite a mischievous side to him which is really starting to come out now he's settled - he's a cheeky lump but really soft and affectionate with it! His recall and obedience are fantastic - needing a little work still, but he's so bright that he's a really quick learner. I can easily walk him with Pebbles and Fudge (my two shown in the photos above) and my parent's dog who's on hols here! Four dogs and leads and he just toddles along to heel - a slight pull sometimes, but no more than you'd expect from a dog of his size and breed.

He loves water - we went to a stream and he was like a child in a sweet shop - a real puppy! I had forgotten how long it takes such a hair ball to dry off though!!!!!

I've taken some more photos and will post them as soon as I get a few minutes....

Zeus is now the proud owner of a name tag with his new name on it and is having a wonderful time. He's made lots of friends on his walks and loves swimming in the river - although he does take a while to dry off!!

He's been to the Duston German Shepherd Training Club tonight to see what goes on (we only sat and watched) and his behaviour was exemplary - no barking, being very friendly with the other dogs (but not 'too' friendly!). He sat and lay down for the trainer when he was told to. A real star. It did make me realise just how tall he is in comparison to some of the other dogs there though! He's a gentle giant!

Anyway, here are some photos as promised:

PostSubject: Royal Norfolk Show   Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:22 am

We (all four of us!) have been to the Royal Norfolk Show today with my business partner to promote our petslocated.com website. Zeus was star attraction with lots of people coming up and wanting to stroke him. We sat near children running around with cap guns and watched the gun dog display (complete with shotguns going off) and he didn't bat an eyelid - he's a total star.

We went to the GSD Training Club last night and, again, he was perfectly behaved.

He now plays with Pebbles and Fudge - a little boisterously sometimes - and I have to tell him that just because he can put Pebble's head in his mouth, he doesn't have to!! Fudge just goes up to him and licks his face!

I can't believe how lucky I am to have him here and am so grateful to you for rehoming him with me.

Back home this evening... how relaxed are they??:

PostSubject: Some advice please...   Sun Jul 04, 2010 10:03 am

Now that Zeus is finding his feet and has regained his confidence, some of his 'naughtier' side is starting to come out a bit! This isn't generally a problem and I've sorted out the slight possessiveness he has when he's got a chew/ball and the other two approach him, however I have one issue which I would really appreciate some thoughts/help with please:

When we're out on a walk off lead he has started walking past people who are coming towards us then turning round behind their backs and either 'woofing' or sometimes barking at them. It is just the one bark and as soon as I say something he stops and comes straight to me. I'm not 100% sure it's a friendly bark and think it could be a 'protection' issue - whether that's for me or the other two dogs I don't know. I would be very grateful for advice on how to prevent this behaviour as it is obviously very unnerving for people and is starting to make me apprehensive when we meet people - which he no doubt picks up on!

Any help or tips would be gratefully received - either via this forum or by giving me a call on 07976 666947 if you need any more information.

Thank you all in advance

Keith
