| Pammy Posted 21/02/2010 10:10:15 from Ireland met this guy over the weekend..a big baby! I did not walk him but met him a few times running around the field. he is strong on the lead but seems he has no lead training. The guy who had him out yesterday was the one who found him..he spent a lot of time with him and told me that he was a gentle friendly puppy. he gave him a good brush yesterday as he had all this puppy hair. This is a fab looking dog..beautiful face and is only young maybe less than a year. i reckon a little bit of training and this guy would be such a quick learner!!
Pammy Posted 21/02/2010 10:12:04 This little one is still in the pound & the pound is FULL .
Rather concerned as hes a restricted BREED !!
from Ireland Cai is still in the pound and is still in need of a home! He is strong on the lead but so handsome..he would def need some training but as he is so young, it would not take much to train this clever guy!. He really needs to get out and get the training he needs. He has lots of energy being a puppy and am sure will flourish once he is allowed to run and play! he really is only a baby!!
Pammy Posted 23/02/2010 18:12:25
Still working on this baby , trying to find someone that will take him out the pound , into a warm home before he can come to the uk ... Hes been in there far too long
Pammy Posted 01/03/2010 19:02:00 This little one is still in the pound , cant gat anyone to get him out .. hes been there since the 10th Feb !! Pammy Posted 03/03/2010 10:20:55 Hoping this little one is OUT TODAY

| siobhan Posted 25/03/2010 11:33:33 Monty has arrived.. boy is he handsome. He is tall and will be a [g]big boy[/g] when he finishes growing! We stopped up the park on the way home and met at least 7 other dogs. He was friendly and polite to all. He does pull on the lead. Hopefully after a good long run we can start to work on that. He accepted a treat from me gently. He has had something to eat and does not appear possesive of his food. He is at this moment sleeping in his crate after spending a good half hour running around the garden with Mandy, Blue and Teddy. Having a drink with Mandy. Teddy saying Hi. I just love the face and the ears. (someone up the park said he reminded them of Tramp out of "lady and the Tramp"). He is much more georgeous in real life and has the softest coat. |

Monty has been great overnight. He slept quietly in his crate. He is full of energy. We have been up the woods this morning and he has behaved himself well. He has good recall (Oops, no Ron, I never let him off his lead!!). He is friendly with all the other dogs. He will need lead training. He pulls and is very strong, but when you stand still he will stand beside you. |

| Pammy Posted 29/03/2010 13:27:07 I love this boy , wish I had space for another .. siobhan Posted 29/03/2010 13:54:24 Monty is a loving and energetic dog. He will be a big boy when fully grown. He will need to learn to walk on a lead, at the moment he pulls, and he is strong. Although when you stop walking he will sit beside you, (this won't get you far on a walk though).
Off lead his recall is selective, if there is another dog around he feels he must go over to say hello. He is friendly and so far no other dogs have had issues with him. Indoors his hearing is much better!!.
He is curious of the cats and given the opportunity will chase after them. He has been given a few warnings from Snuggles for sniffing her rear and he has taken note. siobhan Posted 01/04/2010 07:27:13 Today Monty and I are going to discuss the "HALTI" .... He pulls like a steam train on a lead. He will stop and sit looking at me when I stop, but as soon as we are off again he is in front, best chest forward and off .. He wants to run to say "Hi" to every dog he can see. He just seems so happy to be out befriending and running about.
Anyone who can give me ideas... I would be very grateful..
Other than that he is quite the little, (well big actually), sweetie.. Clean indoors, Crated at night without problems.. Cat curious. Child frienly. Cuddly..
tiny Posted 01/04/2010 16:22:23 hi siobhan, monty is just like alfie i think i might have tried every halti collar etc. i now have a gencon and alfie walks by my side its an all in one, like a lead but on the end you pull it through to 2 loops one on the snout other behind the ears, when dog pulls both tighten. other end you can either clip to normal collar or it can clip onto a ring on it. i'm not saying alfie is perfect but at least i take him for a walk instead of him taking me. lol monty is absolutely stunning and whe ever has him in my opinion will be lucky. maggie maggie
RON Posted 01/04/2010 19:25:02 Big thanks for that info Mage myself and Siobhan have been trying to find the name out of thes leads so thanks
tiny Posted 03/04/2010 13:02:06 my pleasure. if anyone gets a gencon get it from pet perfect as it is cheaper i paid £18.48 and that included postage. some say a bit expensive but it is a lead and collar in one plus if it helps you to walk the dog, not the other way it's worth every penny.in my humble opinion. yes ok it might not work for every dog. with alfie it was trial and error and cost me a small fortune. bless him maggie
siobhan Posted 03/04/2010 15:28:48 Thank you Maggie .. I trawled through the internet searching all sort of names that Ron was telling me .. Got one on order now.. Just waiting ...
tiny Posted 03/04/2010 17:24:54 good luck, hope you are as lucky with it as i am |

| siobhan Posted 03/04/2010 19:58:33 Monty is coming along well.. He is definatly a project in some respects.. mostly lead work and outdoor recall. He is such a loveable dog. And a quick learner. He has stopped surfing my kitchen worktops. Has learnt to do "sit" for his food. He sleeps in his crate at night quietly. He can be left indoors for short periods with no signs of seperation anxiety. He loves a cuddle. Siobhan Posted 10/04/2010 18:41:49 Monty's been up the woods today.. Meeting and Greeting.. I've found another new friend, Dad, I'm bringing him home with me. Follow me boys.... I best pose for one picture... after all he has taken hundreds... Best friends with Paul's dog "Teddy" (Teddy does not look it but he is 11 years old and just retired from security work. He is a real sweet dog) 23/4/2010 Monty and Emmett have taken to being best friends. It's been hard trying to get a picture of Monty without Emmett in. Apart from one the other day when Monty and Snowy decided to discuss who was the lord of the garden.. SNOWY won.. |

| siobhan Posted 28/04/2010 13:12:38 Monty is still looking for a home. His visitors thought he was a lovely dog but Emmett stole their heart. It was a very hard decision for them to make.
lost-our-shadow Posted 28/04/2010 16:32:47
we met monty last night, and yes he is a really lovely dog. we both took him for a walk and he pulled a little, but nothing like i expected . he was very responsive to small commands through the lead. and always stopped tugging to let you catch up.
he is very agile on his feet , and plays very well. he is a very confidant little chap and is very aware of his surroundings both inside the house and out walking....
we was looking for 2 dogs and if timing was better id have him in an instant. i dont see any reason why he wont fit into any family . having not long lost our white girl , and bumping into emmett who had lots of similar characteristics of our one we felt emmett would fit into our lives without much change for us cost was the only reason we couldnt take 2 now , but if we could afford 2 id have monty too
tiny Posted 28/04/2010 16:56:23
i'm so sorry you couldn't have monty but at least emmett will have a new forever home. so it's not all sad.
belsa Posted 30/04/2010 19:14:13

belsa Posted 30/04/2010 22:10:29
Yes Pammy the tissues will be covered.
I was looking for another GSD, but for some reason i kept being drawn to Monty and seeing him in the flesh he is adorable.
I will have to arrange to join one of the organised walks now and again if that is ok.

| belsa Posted 02/05/2010 11:17:27 Well , what can we say....... Monty hasn't been here a full day yet, but has certainly made himself right at home. He certainly is a little diamond, he loves sleeping on the sofa , he is into everything , absolutely loves his ball on the rope , he holds the rope and plays knock yerself out with the ball. Did a bit of side swiping this morning, apparently loves the small packets of frosties, but hasn't taken to the packets of porridge, as the packets were open like the frosties but the porridge was all over the floor. When asked what the mess was, his head went down gave the ok you found me out look and toddled off. Since our beloved Preston (GSD) passed away, we all haven't laughed so much in weeks until Monty arrived to entertain us last night ... What a character... Adorable..... as soon as we can will take photo's, and show you Monty in his new home. Cheryl Posted 02/05/2010 15:19:32 Another great ending! Be happy Monty, and well done Siobhan. Your house must be feeling just a little bit empty now with both foster dogs gone belsa Posted 03/05/2010 16:57:55 This little gem has settled in so well, he had a very upset tummy yesterday but that is settling down today...... He has made a load of new friends up the country park today, absolutely love his ball, and his recall has been fantastic. I am so glad we chose Monty he is an absolute little gem... Thankyou Siobhan you, Stuart, children, Teddy and Blue have done a fantastic job...... skinneybiker Posted 03/05/2010 18:25:57 glad monty is settling in and sounds if he really enjoying himself..............all we want now is pics pics and more pics of his antics belsa 05/05/2010 12:38:03 Monty is doing absolutely tremendous, he loved the vet yesterday, his health check was A1.... very healthy, he weighs in at 23kgs the vet said he needs to get to 30 at present. Unoblivious to being microchipped just interested in the treats Scott the vet was treating him to. Monty seems so happy, and loves all his new friends and playing ball on his walks.... Only have phone cameras at the mo, and we cannot upload pics, but now have a camera on order, so very soon you can see Monty's latest antics. gsdlover Posted 05/05/2010 12:52:43 What a lovely update - great to hear that Monty is settling in so well All credit to Siobhan - all her fosters seem to do so well belsa Posted 08/05/2010 00:07:19 Monty has settled in brilliantly, he loves his ball, his recall is excellent and other dogs even take second place to his ball now.
