Well it is about time that I brought you all up to date with this fellow's progress. He has now been here for allmost three months and some potentially serious issues have slowly but surely surfaced. This is not a well dog. Whilst not on the danger list his condition could well deteriorate over a shortish spate of time. Essentially he is constantly putting on weight and then losing it. He has, as of yesterday, lost 2.5kg since his arrival, that is almost 10%, not good. He has an obvious ongoing gut problem, ear infection and suffers from collitis on a regular basis so the good work done one week is undone the next. His emune system appears to have been compromised at some time in the past. His cheerfulness and playfulness remain unabated. He is going back to the vet next Monday for extensive testing, bloods etc and we should know then what the problems are. I have a sneaky feeling that the pancreas will figure in the outcome, if so not so bad as pills will probably be the answer. Finding the right food for him has been a challenge but Wafcol salmon and potato appears to be good at present. I dont want to paint too gloomy a picture but I think it is important that we get to the bottom of his ailments as soon as possible so that he can pick up weight and get back to having fun again.
