Hello from deepest, darkest Kent,

I thought it time to post here as I have been hovering and reading the wealth of information on here.

I'm Tom and I hope very soon to be able to have one of your rescue dogs, I'm so pleased to have found this site and after speaking with Ron, to meet people who really care about these lovely dogs.

I started looking for a dog as my daughter really wants one and that awakened the thought that I have always wanted one, but for various reasons, time and space etc. have never done so. I have looked before but never been inclined to progress anything with what I refer to as puppy factories, otherwise known as greedy breeders, Money was not the objection, it was the fact that they churn them out with no regard for the dogs, just how much they can make out of it and with no regard as to where the dog ends up and what happens to it.
I say I'm happy to find this site, yes I am, as just a few days ago I spoke with several places involved with small animal re-homing and to be honest was met with such a negative attitude I could not believe it, speaking with Ron was like a breath of fresh air.

Any way, back to now, time is right we have the time, space and the wish to have a new member of our family and I hope it can happen. The family I hope will not be too much of a challenge for the dog, it's me, the wife, daughter, 3 big Andalusians and a Welsh pony all wrapped up in a lovely big, private playground.

I hope this to be the start of a wonderful journey.

Tom

PS, I hope I haven't put my foot in it with the comments about the breeders, if so I apologise

Hi Tom and

I keep saying but i'll be forever eternally grateful to Sussex and Ron for having faith in me to take
care of my little hooligan (who is fast asleep at the minute) after I lost Dana and Sam last year.

I too could have gone to a breeder but I am loathe to give them my hard earned cash when there
are so many others looking for a good home.

Carol

That could get me shot, with 3 virtually pure white horses that love to roll in the mud I think she might draw a line... Laughing

Welcome to the site Tom. I have only been a member since the middle of last year and can only support fully all that others have said on this post. This is a fabulous site run by equally fabulous and dedicated people who will always help and listen when needed, and some are just down right bizzare (we all know who we are!).

Had a visitor today, dgn, to give me advice on how to go about dealing with our first GSD.. hopefully won't be too long coming.
Just wanted to say thanks to Vicky for putting us in contact and a very big thanks to Dave for taking the time to come over and share.. also to his 2 big boys, who are super dogs and immaculately behaved, even when they are all excited. They made my daughter very happy so I thought I would share this with you all...
